Format: Paper prototype
Premise / Story:
You are a little goblin who wants to get their grubby little hands on some precious loot. The problem is, when you’re a goblin, loot doesn’t come by that easily. And so you’ve devised a crafty technique: With the help of your goblin crew, you will dive into a gelatinous cube to forage the floating riches within it! You will slowly get digested as you go down however so… Try not to take too long! Or do, greedy goblins tend to push their luck after all!
Prototype
The zip file contains:
- A game rules draft: The rules of the game
- A game rules draft - Dice variant: Since we had no cards at first, we made a variant of the game using dice for playtesting
- Game cards draft 1 & 2: Different lists of cards we tested while prototyping
Afterthoughts:
The bulk of our time was dedicated to game design and prototyping. The current game needs more balancing but we have drafted up a deck for the prototyping phase. We decided to use Canva assets for the visuals so as to save time. We would have loved to add a layering mechanic using the transparency of cards which we were very inspired by but alas in interest of time we focused on designing the core game. We are looking into digitising the game as well and trying some new things from there!
